STUART, Fla.-- - A Treasure Coast woman, left for dead after a hit and run, is speaking out-- asking for the public's help to identify the woman who hit her.
Stuart police say 23-year-old Chariti Thomas was hit by a car on December 9th near the intersection of Contractor’s Way and U.S. 1 in Stuart.
Thomas said her life has been turned upside-down by the injuries she received, which include a broken arm, broken ribs and a fractured spine.
Thomas said witnesses tell her the woman who hit her, simply left the scene.
"She took a baby car seat out of the front and put it in the back, and she drove away,” said Thomas. “No one really paid attention to her, because they guessed she stopped."
Police say they’re looking for a heavy-set black female who drove a mini-van that night.
If you know anything about the incident, you’re asked to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
