STUART, Fla. - A judge has denied bond reduction for the maintenance man at a Stuart private school accused of putting a cell phone camera in the girls locker room.
25 year-old Michael Girard, a maintenance man at the Pine School in Stuart, made his first appearances via video link before Judge Kathleen Roberts, Tuesday.
Girard, whose bail was set at $30,000, faces 11 counts of video voyeurism and one count of tampering with evidence.
"I am not going to reduce the bond at this point, although it may not be considered a violent crime, it is a crime involving children," said Judge Roberts.
Stuart police say a week ago Monday, Girard hid a cell phone camera in a ceiling tile in the girls locker room at the Pine School. It was discovered by a group of sixth graders.
According to authorities, the phone was pointed to where the girls would change.
Police say the SD card had been removed from the phone.
Girard is on administrative leave from the school. The school is taking steps to fire him.
So far, no images or video of the girls has surfaced.
