STUART — An 18-year-old woman and her 23-year-old boyfriend were arrested following a Monday incident in which the boyfriend is accused of firing a .40 caliber pistol, according to records released Tuesday.

Alexandria Kaithyn Dean Marinos was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after she told Martin County Sheriff's Office investigators she hit her boyfriend, Michael Morris.

The incidents happened at 5:48 p.m. Monday at their listed address in the 3200 block of Southeast Birch Avenue in Stuart.

Marinos, 18, told investigators she hit her boyfriend and started to hold him against his wishes because she didn't want him to leave the home. Marinos and Morris said Marinos punched Morris when he was trying to leave.

Marinos told investigators Morris, 23, pulled a gun from his waistband and said "he was going to fire a warning shot up in the air, because he was angry at her," an affidavit states.

Witnesses said they heard a shot.

Morris, who had a gun in his waistband when a deputy arrived, said he pulled the gun and "may have pulled the trigger."

The firearm and a .40 caliber cartridge casing were put into evidence.

Morris was arrested on a misdemeanor discharging a firearm in public charge.
