STUART, Fla. - The gates opened Friday afternoon for this year's Stuart Air Show.
Tens of thousands are expected to attend the event.
“We are the Black Diamond Jet Team, and we invite you to come join us at the Stuart Air Show to see America’s newest jet demonstration team provide thrilling display of jet aerobatics,” Kevin Killian of the jet team boasts.
The Black Diamond Jet Team is only one of the new high flying acts this year.
Beverly Jones of the Stuart Airshow 2011 adds, “We always have something new, this year we have Gene Soucy and his partner Teresa Stokes who is a wing walker, and also we have the F-16, which is new this year, they are going to be doing a great practice demo.”
The always popular acts will be back too.
Jones adds, “One of the crowd favorites that we bring back every year, I’m standing in front of them, is the AeroShell Aerobatic Team. They’re a four ship performance team they will be performing this year. “
Come share stories with World War Two vets who actually flew these aircraft, in the Living Legends tent, or go to the huge Kidz Zone fun area, There is something for young and old alike.
There will be aircraft galore lined up on the tarmac, many of them new to the show…but the focus will turn to the sky at 1 p.m. Saturday when the aerobatics begin.
The airshow will be held again at Witham Field, which is off Monterey Road in Stuart. Gates open at 9 a-m Saturday and Sunday. A spectacular fireworks display will close the show Sunday night.
Jones states, “We’re going to have a wonderful year, I think really it’s going to be best ever!”
