The Republican primary winner for sheriff in Martin County is a familiar face to voters. He's a state legislator.
Representative William Snyder won about 46% of the vote over candidates John “Ski” Pietruszewski, who won 13%, and David Dees, who won 39%.
Rep. Snyder has served six years as a lawmaker, and he said in his primary victory speech that he spent six days a week, hours every day, shaking hands, waving signs and going door-to-door to speak with voters.
“Being the sheriff is really a dream come true for me, and it’s the ultimate opportunity to serve, to make Martin County a safe place to live,” said Snyder.
Snyder faces write-in candidate Trent Wetherald in November’s General Election.
