Martin county authorities confirm a pedestrian was hit around 5:30 p.m. in Stuart.

Authorities are still on scene taking witness statements at this hour.

Witnesses tell authorities that two dogs, one possibly a puppy, backed a pedestrian into the roadway, at which time authorities confirm the unidentified man was hit.

It happened on Salerno Road near the intersection of Isabelita Avenue.

Animal control officials are issuing a citation to a nearby 18-year-old resident, who says he owns the dogs.
