Woman says her 15 foot 'dancing pole' was stripped from Palm City home

PALM CITY, Fla. - A 19-year-old woman was gathering her things after a break up with her boyfriend when she noticed something missing -- a 15 foot "Expert dancing pole" valued at $400.

The woman told a Martin County Sheriff's deputy March 12 she was living with her "now ex-boyfriend" on Southwest 34th Street in Palm City, a recently released sheriff's report states. She said they broke up that day and she moved out.

"The victim advised that she was working from (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and when she returned to get her belongings, her 15 foot X Pole Expert dancing pole was missing from the residence," the report states.

She said the ex-boyfriend told her he went to the store during the time she was at work and that someone entered the home and absconded with the dancing pole, which the report lists as having accessories.

Generally speaking, pole dancing involves a sensual dance in the context of a pole, a practice often employed by exotic dancers at strip clubs. While advanced pole dancing necessitates elevated levels of strength, stamina and flexibility, in the gentlemen's club setting the practice is in many cases combined with a striptease or related adult activities.

The victim said the 15 foot dancing pole had to be disassembled to be removed from the home.

The victim named a possible suspect, but the report lists no known suspects.
