PALM CITY — A Palm City mother of three, who returned from a night of partying unable to care for her children, is facing child neglect charges, according to a Martin County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
Deputies early Saturday morning charged Julieann Matos, 35, with felony negligent treatment of a child for failing to provide adequate supervision for her children ages, 7, 9 and 11.
A baby sitter told deputies Matos returned home at 1 a.m. after four hours of partying "visibly intoxicated." She went to bedroom, locked the door and refused to come out.
The baby sitter said she was not scheduled to stay the night at the home but felt uncomfortable leaving the children alone with their mother.
A deputy said for 10 minutes he used his fists to knock on Matos' bedroom door but didn't get an answer.
He then had to pry the door open and he found her unconscious on the bathroom floor. Next he shook the woman for two minutes and patted her face to wake her up.
When Matos woke up she asked a deputy where she was and what was going on, the report states. She told deputies that on Wednesday and Thursday she had surgery and was given a prescription for pain. She didn't realize the mixture of pain pills and alcohol would have a strong affect on her, the report states. While being booked into the Martin County jail, Matos blew a 0.115, almost twice the legal limit, the report states.
Matos was released Saturday from jail on $2,500 bail. The children was placed in their father's custody.
The Department of Children and Family services were notified of the incident, the arrest report states.
This article has been modified from the original version. Julieann Matos' blood-alcohol level was 0.115.
