MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. - Fire rescue members and their families stood on the corner of Indian Street and US 1 waving flags in their uniforms.
They did the same thing after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
After two rallies on this corner they raised more than one hundred thousand dollars for the families of 9/11 victims.
Today they weren’t looking to raise money, but make sure drivers still remember the day like they do.
“You know it changed a lot of our lives, we just want to just keep it going and make sure all the memories and just make sure that everyone in NYC know we’re thinking about them every day,” said JJ Vonesslinger with Martin County Fire Rescue.
This is the first year since 9/11 that the Martin County Fire Rescue has gathered at the corner. They say they plan to keep coming back to this spot in the future.
