Jensen Beach woman's alleged bribe of $120, drugs lands her in jail after traffic stop

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Jessica Washington was far from her Jensen Beach home when she was arrested by Riviera Beach Police Saturday after she failed to stop at a stop sign.

But the traffic violation wasn't what prompted the 29-year-old's 12:28 a.m. arrest; it was the .10 gram of marijuana she had in aluminum foil, and her attempts to bribe two officers with $120 and three pills, according to probable cause affidavit.

On Monday, Washington was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $7,500 bond. She is facing charges of bribery and possession of marijuana.

Her 30-year-old husband, who was a passenger in her car at the time of Washington's arrest, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a prescription drug. Khalil Washington, of Jensen Beach, was released on Saturday after posting a $4,500 surety bond.

It was her husband's arrest, however, that left Jessica Washington facing bribery charges.

According to the affidavit, officers said that while one of them was writing a traffic ticket, Jessica Washington said out loud that "the officers can take the pills along with the $120 and let her and her husband free."

"My husband is worth more than $120," she allegedly said when one of the officers asked her if she had just tried bribing them. "Please just take the money and let us go."

The pills that Khalil Washington is accused of having were identified as Hydroxyzine and Soma.
