Two malnourished ponies are recovering at the Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation in Palm City.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office says Agricultural Crimes Detective Ben Fennell and Animal Services Officer Dawn Hicks rescued the animals after acting on a tip.
The ponies were found at a home in Indiantown.
According to the sheriff's office, Detective Fennell convinced the owners to voluntarily and permanently surrender the animals so they could receive immediate medical care.
