One person was killed and another injured in a T-bone-style car crash in Hobe Sound Wednesday afternoon, said Christine Weiss, spokeswoman for Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened around 5:07 p.m. when a car traveling south on U.S. 1 veered into the northbound lanes and struck the northbound vehicle just south of Osprey Street, said Sgt. Mark Wysocky, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
Rescue crews had to free at least one person from one of the vehicles, according to Jon Belding, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
Both victims were taken to area hospitals; but one succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to an FHP dispatcher.
Authorities did not release the dead person's identity, pending notification of next-of-kin.
