Hobe Sound, Fla. - Recent rains have been a blessing for parched lawns, but there is one pest that is really enjoying the wet weather...mosquitoes.

Martin County Mosquito Control officials told our news partners at the TC Palm that as the rain continues the critters will only get worse.

"They are just really bad and they attack your face," explains one Hobe Sound resident.

Officials say the problem is that a lot of people have standing water in their backyards and that is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

They advise residents to remove the standing water, empty bird baths and dog bowls and make sure you keep insect repellent nearby. You can keep mosquitoes out of the house by repairing broken screens on windows, doors, porches and patios.
