HOBE SOUND, Fla. - A Martin County Fire Rescue helicopter made an emergency landing late Monday night at the Heritage Ridge Golf Course.
The chopper was in the middle of transporting a stabbing victim to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Crews say the chopper had just come from Ridgeway Mobile Home Park, where rescue workers picked up a patient who had been stabbed multiple times.
The chopper was in the air for about three minutes when the pilot noticed smoke in the cockpit and declared an emergency.
The pilot was able to safely land, and an ambulance ended up taking the stabbing victim the rest of the way to St. Mary's Medical Center.
The chopper was able to successfully take off again after a mechanic fixed the problem.
