Bees attacked a woman walking her dogs in Palm City Monday morning, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.

Investigators say the woman was walking down SW 37th Street and as she approached a vacant lot near SW Feroe Street and SW Cornell Avenue the insects attacked.

The bee stings killed one of the dogs and injured the woman and her other pet.

A lawn maintenance crew saw what happened and tried to help the woman. Martin County Fire rescue took her to Martin Memorial Medical Center for treatment. The dog that survived is being treated by a veterinarian.

Fire Rescue said it was unclear if any lawn workers were attacked.

SW 37th Street between SW Feroe Street and SW Cornell Ave has been closed until the hive is removed, according to Martin Co. Fire Rescue.  The woman's condition was not released.
