BEAU RIVAGE, Fla. - Moving an entire Treasure Coast community from one county to another could happen if a bill pushed by Florida State Senator Joe Negron becomes law.

Beau Rivage is a 129-acre community in St. Lucie County that includes 6 subdivisions. If Negron's bill passes, Beau Rivage could be part of Martin County starting in July.

According to our news partners at Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers, the Beau Rivage community is already woven into Martin County through schools.

Students in Beau Rivage can go to Martin County schools through an inter-local agreement with St. Lucie County.

Emergency crews from both counties respond to 911 in Beau Rivage as well.

But not everyone thinks this is a winning situation.

A homeowners association vice president was quoted in a published article saying switching to Martin County water and sewer services could cost neighbors a lot more money than they're paying now.

Also, $1.2 million in property tax revenue would be taken off the St. Lucie County tax roll.

State Senator Negron hopes this won't come down to a revenue issue.

Negron's bill doesn't have a sponsor yet.

It needs a sponsor to be brought to the Florida House and Senate floor before it could be passed.

If passed and signed by Governor Rick Scott, the community could become a part of Martin County in July.
