VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Doughnuts, coffee and ice cream appear to make people do extraordinary things.

Clayton Joseph Schwey, for instance, reportedly said he's a DEA/CIA agent and demanded the three items from a Dunkin' Donuts in the 500 block of 21st Street in Vero Beach.

Two patrons told Vero Beach police Aug. 18 that Schwey, 36, for a week has entered the establishment and said he was a DEA/CIA agent, demanding free doughnuts, java and ice cream, according to a recently released arrest affidavit and one of the patrons.

One patron eventually asked Schwey for identification. He said he didn't have to show a badge because of his undercover work.

Schwey reportedly said he'd been sent into Dunkin' Donuts to investigate "crooked cops," works for "America's Most Wanted" and carries a gun.

In general, DEA/CIA agents are not known -- at least publicly -- for investigating alleged "crooked cops" in doughnut shops on American soil.

Dunkin' Donuts employees asked Schwey to leave, and an argument broke out between Schwey and a patron.

Schwey told police the patron started the argument and tried to goad him to fight.

"Schwey stated that since he is a CIA profiler, he 'KNEW' (the patron) had warrants and instead of arguing, left the business to call the police so that (the patron) would get arrested," an affidavit states.

Police asked Schwey how he knew about the warrants. Schwey said he's a profiler with the CIA and is a good profiler.

Police reported Schwey assured them he was a federal agent. Schwey also said he works for Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar.

Schwey, of the 700 block of 46th Square in Vero Beach, was arrested on a felony falsely personating officer charge.
