VERO BEACH, Fla. - VERO BEACH, FLA - Two murder suspects, charged with killing a Vero Beach dad, made their first court appearances Wednesday morning.
Henry Jones, Jr., 23, was denied bond. His alleged counterpart, Darius Robinson, 16, was ordered to be held for 21 days in custody.
If, during that time, state prosecutors decide to charge him as an adult, Robinson would most likely remain in custody.
The suspects stared blankly into a camera Wednesday during their first appearance in court.
Vero Beach police made the arrests announcement Tuesday night. They credit the arrests to the neighbors' detailed descriptions of the two suspects.
Police found Brian Simpson, 41, shot to death in his own home last Thursday.
Authorities say he walked in on an ongoing burglary.
In court documents, Robinson claimed he was the "look out" while Jones conducted most of the burglary.
Police say the two stole jewelry from the Simpson home.
They also say physical evidence links the two to the murder scene.
Neighbors and a postal worker helped police put together a sketch of the suspects.
