VERO BEACH, Fla. - A Vero Beach man was arrested Monday after a police and K9 unit search found him approximately one mile from his abandoned vehicle.
Shelvick Henry, of the 4700 block of 35th Avenue, was arrested on five active warrants, including one for aggravated stalking.
According to police reports, Henry was spotted driving recklessly in a Vero Beach residential area. After police pursued Henry, his vehicle was found abandoned behind a residence north of 49th Street and 29th Court.
A K9 and his officer found Henry one mile from the abandoned dark blue Infiniti.
While the search was being conducted, police reported receiving a fictitious call about a shooting in the 3200 block of 45th Street in what officials said was an effort to pull police away from the search. The caller’s identity is being investigated for possible charges.
Henry also had warrants for criminal mischief, resisting arrest without violence and two counts of failure to pay support.
Henry was transported to the Indian River County Jail.
