Vero Beach man dies in Saturday afternoon accident

VERO BEACH —A Vero Beach man died Saturday afternoon after his motorized wheelchair was struck by a car.

Florida Highway Patrol said Bradley William Cotton, 64, of Vero Beach was eastbound on 37th Street east of 15th Avenue at 12:09 p.m. when a car driven by Megan Lynn McCart, 20, of Sebastian, also eastbound on 37th Street, attempted to avoid him.

McCart's Ford Mustang veered to the left, but the right front collided with the wheelchair.

Cotton was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

An investigating into the accident is continuing.
