VERO BEACH, Fla. - A man charged with impregnating a young girl may have used a crude method in a failed attempt to end the pregnancy, according to his warrant affidavit.
Dominque Culver, 21, of the 2100 block of Second Street Southwest, Vero Beach, was charged with impregnating a minor less than 16 years old and two counts of sexual battery on a child in familiar or custodial authority. He was held Wednesday at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $110,000 bail.
The girl, 12, told an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office detective that Culver forced her to have sex in October and March. She also learned in March she was pregnant, according to the affidavit.
She heard Culver having conversations with people about ending a pregnancy, she told the detective. On at least three occasions, she said Culver gave her an unknown, foul-tasting liquid which she thought was his attempt to end the pregnancy, the affidavit states.
Culver fled the family home in mid-April, shortly after the family made a report to the Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody Tuesday.
