VERO BEACH, Fla. - No one was seriously injured when a teenage driver crashed into a Indian River County Sheriff's patrol car Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers charged Hallie Russell, 17, of Fort Pierce with careless driving in the accident, which happened in the 4100 block of State Road 60 at 8:52 p.m. Saturday.

Russell was eastbound in a Chevrolet Trailblazer and lost control of the car, which hopped the concrete median and crashed into the patrol car, FHP said. Russell and the deputy, Thomas Beachum, 53, were checked out at Indian River Medical Center but were released that night with minor injuries.
