VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Lynn Elliot was 17 in the summer of 1983, when David Alan Gore raped and killed her in Vero Beach.
She was the last of six victims. There were Four children and two women. Gore now waits in a North Florida prison for his execution Thursday.
It’ll be an important day for Lynn’s father, Carl Elliot. At 6 p.m., Gore is scheduled to be executed at Florida State Prison in Starke.
“He needs to be gone from this Earth," said Elliot. "We don’t even want him breathing our air."
Lynn was murdered 29 years ago, the last of several women Gore and his cousin Fred Waterfield abducted and raped. Gore has been on death row since 1984.
“After losing our daughter, we want to see some justice done," Elliot said. "Until he goes, it will be a travesty of justice."
Elliot plans to witness the execution by lethal injection -- a moment he said he hopes will bring a sense of relief for his family.
“I just want people to know that he was a terrible monster and that he had no qualms about using, raping and killing people and burying their bodies and then going back on the hunt to find more," said Elliot. "He just needs to be gone. That’s all.”
There are still a few court appeals on behalf of Gore. Elliot is hoping none of the appeals will postpone the killing. Waterfield is serving two life sentences at a state prison in Okeechobee.
