VERO BEACH, Fla. - A motorcyclist was killed in Vero Beach late Saturday afternoon when his bike hit the side of a sport utility vehicle in the 2300 block of 12th Street.
The motorcycle was westbound on 12th Street about 5:35 p.m. when an eastbound SUV made a left turn into a residential driveway. The motorcycle hit the passenger side door of the SUV and burst into flames, said Florida Highway Patrol Cpl. Robert Ruiz.
The motorcyclist was dead at the scene of the crash, Ruiz said, while the driver of the SUV was taken by ambulance to Indian River Medical Center.
The identities of motorcyclist and driver were not available Saturday night. Ruiz said the motorcyclist was from out of town and the SUV driver a Vero Beach resident.
