Memorial unveiled to remember Lynn Elliott, who was murdered by serial killer David Alan Gore

VERO BEACH, Fla. - A bag pipe wined on tune, as a somber crowd gathered at the Tracking Station Beach Park in Vero Beach this evening.

They came to remember and honor Lynn Elliott, a Vero Beach teen who serial killer David Alan Gore abducted and killed 29 years ago today.

Elliott's family asked the public to come, as they unveil a permanent memorial to their daughter.

A childhood friend spoke of Lynn's smile and free spirit. A cousin shared memories of hanging out with Lynn. He says the funny, full-of-life girl was like a sister.

Then, the specially-designed bench and plaque were uncovered.

The memorial is about a block from where 17-year-old Lynn was hitchhiking with a friend on this day in 1983.

"The location is something she would have loved. She loved that beach. We only lived two blocks from there, said Carl Elliott, Lynn's dad.

The girls had no clue the cousins who picked them up, David Alan Gore and Fred Waterfield, we're about to torture and rape them.

Gore shot and killed Lynn. He was executed for the crime in April. Gore also killed five other girls and women.

The memorial unveiled today is a way Carl Elliott knows his daughter will not be forgotten.

"I want her to be remembered," said Mr. Elliott. "She went at a very young age, at 17. Now, she'll be remembered, and that makes me very happy."
