VERO BEACH — Indian River Medical Center announced Thursday the hospital will eliminate 39 jobs to cut costs.
The hospital is looking at a $5 million deficit for the 2013 fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30 and another $5 million cut in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement for the 2014 fiscal year, according to a news release.
Employees whose jobs are cut are encouraged to apply elsewhere in the company.
No bedside nurse positions are being cut and direct patient care will not be impacted, according to the news release.
