INDIAN RIVER COUNTY -- A senior citizen said he was robbed and bound by a man who set his home on fire and stole his car Wednesday.
"I begged and pleaded for my life," said 74-year-old William David Rice Jr., who was not hospitalized after the attack. "He said if I made a noise, he'd kill me."
Indian River County Fire Rescue extinguished the blaze, set in at least two rooms, in Rice's home in the 100 block of Eighth Court, Vero Beach.
Deputies recovered the stolen Ford Thunderbird in the 1600 block of U.S. 1.
There's no sign of the man who Rice said he once knew and trusted but left the senior citizen to die in a fire.
