INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. -- Four men arrested in Wednesday’s statewide pill mill investigation will make their first court appearance today.
Lewis Stouffer of Coconut Creek, Graig Turturo of Boca Raton, Courtland Twyman of Deerfield Beach, and Bruce Kammerman of Palm City will appear in Indian River County Court at 8:30 a.m.
They all face felony money laundering and drug charges.
A spokesman for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said the men will appear in court via a video connection from the Indian River County Jail.
Stouffer and Turturo are Pompano Beach Firefighters.
The DEA says Stouffer was the kingpin in a drug trafficking operation which sold hundreds of thousands of prescription pain pills at pain clinics across the state.
Dr. Bruce Kammerman was arrested at Stuart Pain Management, a pain clinic on US-1 in Vero Beach.
The DEA said the clinic is where a two-year investigation started that eventually led to Stouffer’s organization.
Investigators say hundreds of thousands of oxycodone and Valium pills were sold illegally at the clinics, leading to the arrests.
