VERO BEACH — A Fort Pierce man was hospitalized after crashing his car into two businesses in the 800 block of 20th Place on Wednesday morning, police said.
The accident happened about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday when Peter Froehlich, 66, was traveling westbound in the silver Mercury Sable and lost control on the one-way road, police said. The car sideswiped Elliott Merrill Community Property Management, coming within
10 feet of a bookkeeper who was sitting at his desk, owner Craig Merrill said. The Mercury stopped when it crashed into Byrd Real Estate, police said.
Froehlich was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne and was in fair condition Wednesday afternoon.
The crash remained under investigation, police said.
