VERO BEACH, Fla. - Two commercial fishermen were stranded off the coast of Vero Beach Thursday night.

Louis Fuqua and Nathan Anderson of Fort Pierce were about five miles from the historic Ocean Grill restaurant, when their boat started taking on water.

The U.S. Coast Guard got the call around 7:15 p.m. Officers said the boat went under, as they pulled Fuqua to safety.

"We saved their lives by getting them off the boat and making sure they weren't lost out there at sea," said U.S. Coast Guard Joey Holmes.

Just after 9:30 p.m., the officers returned to their Fort Pierce station, with the rescued fishermen onboard.

There were no injuries. The fishermen said their boat sank because they caught too many fish.
