VERO BEACH, Fla. - A 61-year-old North Carolina man's plan to meet a 14-year-old girl ended in his arrest, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies says that on August 2nd Arthur Flood had arraigned to meet someone who he thought was an underage teen at a restaurant on State Road 60 west of Vero Beach.
Flood was arrested by undercover deputies when he arrived at his destination.
Investigators says that Flood had placed an online ad and an undercover detective had responded to to it.
Deputies say that when Flood was arrested he told them that he did not intend to have sex with the teen but instead wanted to warn the girl about the dangers of this type of activity.
Flood, according to the sheriff's office, is a resident of Denton, North Carolina but was staying in Hobe Sound while working on a construction project.
Flood was booked into the Indian River County Jail on charges that he traveled to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity and lewd computer solicitation of a child. He was released from jail on $50,000 bond.
