VERO BEACH, Fla. - A 22-year-old Sebastian man escaped serious injury Sunday night when he crawled out of the submerged moonroof of his car that was upside-down and half-submerged in a canal.
County Sheriff Deputy Jason Williams said he arrived on scene at 66th Avenue just south of 49th Street to find Christopher Cuches standing on the underside of his car, covered head to toe in mud.
Williams said Cuches was northbound on 66th Avenue when he drifted across the centerline, overcorrected and flipped into the canal on the east side of the road.
The crash occurred about 8:15 p.m. and was under investigation Sunday night.
