INDIAN RIVER SHORES — A 21-foot-long sport fishing boat apparently washed up on the beach in the 5500 block of State Road A1A Monday morning and an injured man found on the beach was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No one has been reported missing. The boat was reported to authorities at 6 a.m.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is heading an inquiry with assistance from the the Town of Indian River Shores Public Safety Department, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard station in Fort Pierce. The Coast Guard patrolled offshore.
Officials are having problems interviewing the hospitalized person because of his injuries, officials said.
The white Contender fiberglass boat with a 250-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine has been towed away and the town of Indian River Shores is seizing it for evidence.
