Pedestrian killed by train in north Indian River County

A 60-year-old Sebastian man was killed by a train at the Roseland Road crossing in north Indian River County Monday night.

According to Sgt. Thom Raulen , spokesman for the Indian River County Sheriff's Office , the train conductor saw the man walk across the tracks, stand there and then jump in front of the train. Raulen said the accident is being considered a suicide.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. Monday night. The crossing was closed following the accident and reopened at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
