INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. - The death of a scuba diver is under investigation by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies report that 46-year-old Jeffery Croy of Brevard County was diving approximately 4 miles offshore between Wabasso Beach and the Sebastian Inlet Wednesday afternoon.
The captain of the vessel Crory was using noticed that Croy did not surface when he was suppose to.
After a search Croy was found motionless near the ocean floor close to the dive site. Efforts to revive him by dive- ship members and Indian River County Fire paramedics were unsuccessful.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office has retained all of Croy's diving equipment and the death remains under investigation.
Investigators said the name of the vessel and its captain are not available at this time although they are believed to be based in Indian River County.
