Indian River Sheriff's deputies investigating double shooting

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River County Sheriff's deputies were investigating a double shooting late Saturday night that occurred in the 1100 block of 18th Avenue Southwest near the J.A. Thompson Lifelong Learning Center.

A man and a woman are believed to have been shot inside a house on 18th Avenue Southwest and taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, according to Sheriff's Lt. Charles Kirby.

Kirby said a "person of interest' was taken in custody.

The incident took place about 9:30 p.m.
