PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- The city of West Palm Beach only has one race on this Election Day and that's the district 5 city commissioner seat.
Two competitors, incumbent Shanon Materio and Greg Weiss, are vying to take the late Bill Moss's position.
Materio was appointed to the seat last May following the death of Moss.
Weiss will try to be the first city commission candidate to beat an incumbent since 2002.
Weiss is retired from a technology company. He's served on city and county boards. Volunteered with the police department and ran for commission in 2008.
Materio, a resident of 35 years, has been president of south end neighborhood association and served on the boards for the Lake Worth community redevelopment agency and West Palm Beach's Arts and Public places.
