WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Travelers flying out of several south Florida airports will soon be able to go through security checkpoints faster.
TSA Pre Check service will be implemented at Palm Beach International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport.
That means qualified passengers will no longer have to remove their shoes, belt or light weight jacket when going through a designated TSA Pre Check lane.
Laptops can stay in the carry case, and TSA approved plastic travel bottles can stay in the carry on bag.
TSA's expedited screening program will expand to 60 airports nationwide. The program is already in place at 40 airports across the country.
Eligible passengers include U.S. citizens of frequent traveler programs invited by participating airlines, which include Delta, United Airlines, American Airlines and US Airways.
Later this year, TSA will launch an application program, allowing more U.S. citizens to enroll in the Pre Check service.
TSA reps said people can still be subject to random screening.
The service is expected to be in place by the end of the year.
