WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Since leaving the hospital, Emily Ace's road to recovery has been painful.
The 14 year-old was attacked by two pit bulls last week as she walked to school. The teenager says she has some trouble sleeping and has to remind herself not to worry.
"I wasn't like in pain. It was just like a shock that they were biting me so I didn't feel anything," said Emily.
Emily's parents say doctors told them their daughter is lucky to be alive. Her mother says neighbors helped scare the dogs off of her. Neighbors say when police arrived at the scene they were forced to shoot the animals.
Both injured dogs were taken to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control where they were put down.
