WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday night outside the "Jamaicans of the Palm Beaches" hall in West Palm Beach.

The building is located at the intersection of 17th Street and Dixie Highway.

Detectives tell us there was an event being held there for those mourning the death of a teen who was shot and killed at a recent "Sweet 16" party in Riviera Beach.

Police tell us around 8 p.m., several shots were fired outside the hall, near an apartment complex.

Police have not confirmed if this shooting was in retaliation to the "Sweet 16" shootings. Captain David Bernhardt says "Investigators are checking to see if there is any connection to any other shootings in West Palm Beach or Riviera Beach."

Residents tell us this isn't the first time an incident like this has happened following an event at he hall.

One resident, who did not want to be identified, says "Every time there is a party in there, something happens."

As for the juvenile, who was shot Wednesday night, police say he suffered non-life threatening injuries. They add that he is not cooperating with detectives.

If you know anything about the crime, you're urged to call West Palm Beach Police.
