WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Police arrested a suspected gunman in less than a day after a shooting in West Palm Beach Thursday morning.
Authorities said the shooting occurred around 9 a.m. at North Dixie Highway near 20th Street.
Witnesses heard two shots fired and then saw the injured man. They took the victim to nearby Saint Ann Place, which provides food for the needy.
Nuns who work at Saint Ann offered assistance until paramedics arrived and took the victim to St. Mary's Medical Center.
A little more than 8 hours later West Palm Beach police said they charged 48-year-old Horatio McKenley with attempted murder.
Police say video surveillance helped them in their investigation. They also say they recovered a revlover from McKenley's apartment.
The victim, identified only as a homeless man, is expected to survive, according to police.
