WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Dozens gathered in Delray Beach Wednesday night for a bike ride. It was not about exercise or a fun chance to hang with friends. This ride over a route of up to 12 miles was part of the worldwide "Ride of Silence." Its purpose--to remind motorists that we share the roads.
One local group says 22 cyclists died in Broward and Palm Beach counties in 2011. Hundreds more were hurt.
Patience and care are often in short supply on South Florida highways, but those highways belong to everyone.
Motorists and bicyclists must abide by the rules of the road. Patience and consideration are paramount. They can mean the difference between life and death.
