WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A family pet is alive Friday night thanks to the quick actions of West Palm Beach firefighters and police officers after a fire broke out in a home in the 1000 block of Sunset Road, said Allan Ortman spokesman for West Palm Beach fire and police departments.

The fire displaced two adults, but the actions of firefighters and police officers saved a large German Shepherd that was still inside the home at 1008 Sunset Road when crews arrived around 8:30 p.m., Ortman said.

The dog was unresponsive when firefighters and police officers reached it inside the house. “They brought it outside and gave it CPR and oxygen, bringing him back to life,” Ortman said.

The house suffered substantial damage. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical, Ortman said.
