Police identify taxi driver shot dead Friday night in downtown West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - City police have identified a 49-year-old taxi cab driver as the victim of a homicide that occurred late Friday night.

At about 11:30 p.m., police found Eliphete Simeon, shot multiple times, inside his vehicle in the 600 block of N. Rosemary Avenue. Simeon had worked for Ace Taxi company in West Palm Beach, police said.

It was unclear whether Simeon was shot during a robbery, and police reported that there is one witness who says two men might have run from the vehicle.

Simeon died later at a hospital.
