WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Police responded to a home at 1746 37th Street after a call was placed to 911 Monday evening for a shooting. When police arrived, two people were found shot, according to a detective on scene.
Officials say 47-year-old George Delva and his wife were going through a divorce. Delva entered his estranged wife's residence around 6 p.m. and shot his 65-year-old mother-in -law, Rosette Charles three times. She was rushed to St. Mary's Trauma Center with serious injuries but expected to survive.
Police spokesman Chase Scott says juveniles were inside of the home at the time of the incident and were able to get the gun away from Delva. The children hid the gun inside of the home. Officials say Delva then demanded the gun back and and turned the gun on himself. Delva died at the scene.
A man in his 70s, believed to be the shooter's father-in-law, was transported to St. Mary's Trauma Center with chest pains after witnessing the shooting, according to police officials.
