WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A twelve-dollar personal alarm is the biggest seller on the Women on Guard website. It is one of dozens of devices geared toward women and designed to give them time to escape if they're attacked.
Susan Eaton, co-founder of 'Women on Guard' website said, "The sooner you can deter them from coming closer the more time you will have to get away."
Pepper spray will help do that as well. These days they come in designer cases meant to appeal to the fashionable buyer.
Stun guns are another popular option for women looking to protect themselves. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some are even disguised as tubes of lipstick, perfume, even ballpoint pens.
Susan Eaton says, "A lot of our customers are young women and they are more apt to carry something fashionable."
Not necessarily fashionable, but the most serious of the non-lethal protection devices is the Tazer. It's loud, powerful, and meant to hurt someone."It will render them incapable of doing anything, basically."
