SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A 24-year-old woman was struck by a car Tuesday morning while crossing the southbound lanes of Military Trail and Cresthaven Boulevard in suburban West Palm Beach.
She has been identified as Kristina R. Rodgers of Lake Worth
Rodgers was flown to Delray Medical Center via Trauma Hawk and is listed in critical condition.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle, Misty D. Whaley, was going through a green light at about 40 to 50 mph when she hit the woman.
Witnesses told deputies the driver's view of the pedestrian may have been obstructed by another vehicle.
"At this point we're still gathering information but it appears the person crossing the street was in the crosswalk, however we're trying to find out if a truck obscured the vision of this driver .. a dump truck," said Lt. Mike Reardon with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say there was a child in the car. Both the child and driver were taken to Palms West Hospital after getting glass from the windshield in their eyes, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesperson Albert Borroto.
