The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that happened on Shawnee Road early Saturday evening in West Palm Beach.
A PBSO spokeswoman said deputies tried to arrest Michael James Wallach, 22, who waved a gun at a Lake Clarke Shores police officer during an attempted carjacking on Friday. A countywide bolo had been issued to all law enforcement for Wallach on aggravated assault and armed carjacking charges.
Wallach, who was in a different stolen car, shot at deputies who then returned fire.
According to Palm Beach Fire Rescue, Wallach was taken by air to Delray Medical Center after being shot twice in the hip and shoulder.
PBSO said he suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The deputies involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave.
