WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A Palm Beach County firefighter charged in a fake bomb threat and shooting is mentally unstable and cannot make a first court appearance Wednesday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Jean Pierre, who was arrested Tuesday, is also charged with criminal mischief for ripping down a light fixture in his holding cell at the Lantana Police Department.
According to police, the light fixture was pulled down at about 1:40 Tuesday afternoon.
Pierre was arrested at his Palmsea Condominium Tuesday in South Palm Beach after police said he fired as many as 20 shots at his condo door.
Police also said Pierre told them there was an explosive device in the condominium. That threat proved to be false.
A judge set no bond for Pierre, who has been a Palm Beach County firefighter since 2003.
