WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Several mayors from around Palm Beach County say they'll be at Wednesday's school district meeting to present an idea they call their "Peace Plan."
The idea consists of installing metal detectors at all of Palm Beach County's 187 schools, along with adding guards.
The mayors haven't determined how much it would cost to go through with their plan. They feel the plan would prevent another tragedy like the one seen in Newtown, Connecticut.
A spokesman for the school district says he can't discuss safety measures used in Palm Beach County schools, but says the district may release a report on the plan within the coming weeks.
School district board members won't be voting on the plan at Wednesday's meeting. The idea will only be presented to board members.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
